Orlite Brand Solar Camping light with expandable light strip from Temu - Full Product Review
Today I have something really special for you. This is one of my favorite things from Temu. It is a camping light that is composed of string lights. Whoever thought of this is a genius.
In a nutshell, this product t is a rechargable light stuffed full of fairy string lights from the brand Orlite.
This is another item I received for free during a promotion on Temu, but I liked it so well, I have a second one coming soon.

This Orlite Brand outdoor light is round in shape, and can be used as a lantern of sorts. And, it has stowable string lights inside
The top side is a dark green color. Here you will find a solar panel, power button, dial, and USB-C charging port hidden under a rubber cover.
The sides and bottom are a semi-transparent white color. On the side, there is a dark green clip that pulls out. When you pull the cord it will begin to unroll the 32.8 feet of fairy string lights hidden within.
The solar lights have more than one function and color.

INITIAL IMPRESSIONS & THOUGHTS :
When I ordered this, I wasn't expecting it to be as great as it is, but as I mentioned toward the beginning, I liked it so much that I ordered a second one.
This is absolutely perfect for my purpose. I bought this to light the inside of my tent, and to use when my power goes out during storm season. It works out perfectly: The handle hangs the light up, and the little hook makes it easy to string the lights where you want them.
Not only that, but this is useful for illuminating the guidewires of a tent.
Upon unboxing, it was evident that this item was well-made. I know that I read the measurements, but for some reason, I pictured it being larger. I mean it's hiding almost 33ft. of fairy lights inside.
The top has a nice little solar panel, which I would estimate is about 2 inches x 2 inches, and square in size. The power button, USB type-c charging port, and reel are on the top as well. The button and charging port cover are made of a premium-feeling silicone type material. The cover exists to keep the unit waterproof.
I have not put the waterproofing to any extensive testing, but the morning dew didn't cause it harm. But, I definitely would not submerge it or drop it in a river.
The top dial/reel is folded down into the top but can be flipped up to give you a little knob. This knob retrieves the lights very smoothly and winds up in a circular motion. The string of lights pulls out easily. The fairy lights are a little bigger than most I've seen previously, but are still very tiny. I would estimate each light to be about 2, maybe 3 cm in size. They are connected with about 4 inches of space between each light node. The string itself does not light up.
Once you pull the string of lights all the way out, you can roll them back up in either direction. You cannot use the dial to unroll the lights.
The metal hanger is sturdy and has a notch on the top center to prevent sliding.
On the bottom is a sunburst pattern light that can be used alone or with the colored string light, and is brighter than the string lights. This bottom LED disperses the light over a decently wide area.
The product includes a USB cable.
There really isn't much that I dislike about this product. If I had to be nit-picky, I wish you could use the bottom LED with the warm color string light, and I worry about the solar panel becoming scratched over time.
Since I began my obsession with shopping on Temu, I have replaced a large portion of my camping lights with ones that have a solar option and/or rechargeable option.
This light will work for about 3 to 4 hours per charge. My advice would be to turn it off when not using it. If you do, it should last most of the evening. It has a 2,000 mAh battery, which is about the same size as a larger capacity phone battery; so I like to keep it charged up with a power bank with it. Connecting it to a 10,000 mAh power bank will literally enable you to run this thing all night.
I use a "14-person," tent; in other words, it is enormous. So, generally, when I hang a lantern from the center, it only illuminates the very center underneath. With this lamp, I can hang the lantern part from the center, run the string most of the way around the tent, and clip it to the window loop. This light can illuminate the entire tent without being overly bright.
Now, my 9-year-old's tent is a small 2-person tent (also from Temu,) and this light makes the interior of that tent into a party.
The warm lights are the brightest, but the only string light mode you can use in tandem with the bottom lantern-type light are the multi-colored ones. The multi-color light is a softer glow of red, green, and blue.
One other nifty thing I noticed is this:
To get to the light function you want, you have to press the power button multiple times, until you get to the setting you want. HOWEVER, if you leave the light in any one setting for a duration of longer than 20 seconds, and then press the power button, the light will turn off instead of continuing through the different options.

COMPARISONS:
This segment is going to compare this item to other items that are similar in build and price.
On Temu, there are variations of this product. I have seen some that are larger and a few with longer light strands. However, the price for those is substantially higher than this item so I don't feel that can be truly compared.
This product is capable of multiple lighting modes, whereas the competitor options generally only have one color. (i.e., only warm white, only bright white, only multicolor)
This product is waterproof rated. Similar products do not consistently offer this.
